Antonio de Cabezón – Phone

Antonio de Cabezón nació en un pueblo de Burgos (Castrillo Matajudíos) en 1510 y murió en Madrid en 1566.

Es uno de los compositores españoles más internacionales, y una referencia del renacimiento a nivel europeo.

Quedó ciego siendo un niño, y se formó como músico en la Catedral de Burgos. Como era habitual en la época renacentista se instruyó como cantante en la Catedral, y también aprendió con brillantez la ejecución del órgano.

Fue músico de Carlos I y más tarde de su hijo Felipe II, con quien viajó por toda Europa como músico de la corte, lo que le dio un gran éxito internacional.

Básicamente su obra se centra en música para teclado, destacando sus glosas de romances (adaptaciones de obras vocales polifónicas), diferencias (variaciones sobre un tema musical conocido) y tientos (piezas para "tentar" o tocar el teclado de carácter improvisatorio).

Su hijo Hernando de Cabezón recopiló y publicó su obra en 1578 bajo el título de Obras de Música para tecla, arpa y vihuela. Según el propio Hernando, estas obras publicadas no eran más que "migajas" en comparación con el talento en la improvisación de su padre.
