El huelguista de Ángel Honorio Jiménez

El compositor ecuatoriano Mesías Maiguashca (radicado en Alemania) nos contaba alguna ocasión que tenía un grato recuerdo de uno de sus profesores: Ángel Honorio Jiménez. Señalaba que en su época de estudiante en el Conservatorio, el profesor Jiménez se destacaba por su pulcritud y recto proceder. Ángel Honorio Jiménez nació en 1907 en Guanujo, pequeña población de la provincia de Bolívar, de donde se ausentó para poder estudiar música en el Conservatorio de la capital; luego partiría nuevamente hacia otros horizontes y fue a Venezuela, en donde se radicó y falleció dedicado a lo suyo, la música.

En 1965 el Ecuador perdió un gran músico y compositor nacionalista, autor de muchas obras para diferentes formatos. Lejos del Ecuador, su historia nos resulta prácticamente desconocida, más aún su música, por ello al menos como un homenaje vamos a dar a conocer una de sus obras cortas, el pasilloEl huelguista. Título y temática singular, pues elpasillo en el siglo XX generalmente estaba destinado a temas sentimentales. Jiménez junto a Corsino Durán, Juan Pablo Muñoz Sanz y otros, formaron el Sindicato Ecuatoriano de Artistas Músicos (SEDAM), un organismo de tendencia de izquierda, quizá dentro de este contorno se pueda comprender la nominación del pasillo.

Algún momento hallaremos la copia deEl huelguista que estaba arreglado para conjunto orquestal por el propio compositor (esto nos garantizará la fidelidad de la obra), la transcribiremos y pondremos en el blog; hasta tanto incluimos una versión de piano que hemos hecho nosotros a partir de una línea melódica que encontramos en un cuadernillo de partituras manuscritas.

Canción creada hacia los años 30-40’s del siglo XX por el compositor ecuatoriano Ángel Honorio Jiménez (Guanujo, Bolívar, 1907-1965). Se desenvuelve en compás de 3/4; de ahí que haya sido apuntada unas veces comochilena y otras comoaire típico. En realidad su rítmica de acompañamiento se acerca más al dechilena, género del siglo XIX que alcanzó a situarse todavía hasta la primera mitad del siglo XX en el repertorio de bandas y conjuntos populares. Es una de las pocas piezas del amplio catálogo de Ángel Honorio Jiménez que fue divulgada y grabada a nivel local e internacional. Jiménez era un creador de gran sensibilidad que poseía formación escolástica musical, por ello su pieza se aleja de lo común. Jiménez fue alumno y luego maestro en el Conservatorio Nacional de Música; sin embargo después, en busca de mejores horizontes se radicaría en Mérida, Venezuela, en donde fallecería tras realizar tareas como director de banda. Me parece que su obraAldeanita enamorada, originalmente fue instrumental y que se le puso el texto con posteridad.
