El enterrador o La hija de Juan Simón

El enterrador es una canción que la conocíamos –como La hija de Juan Simón- en la voz del cantante y compositor argentino Leonardo Fabio. Hemos podido constatar que existen algunas versiones de esta pieza musical y varios escritos breves que aseguran que se trata de una canción española y otros de un bambuco del cancionero colombiano. Lo cierto es que las grabaciones que se disponen de esas piezas datan de los años 50’s para adelante; entre otros la grabaron Antonio Molina (una excelente versión con modificaciones en su texto), Juanito Valderrama, Angelillo, españoles; Abelardo Barros, cubano; Yasmín Levy, israelita; Luciano y Colcholón, Jaime Llano con Garzón y Torrado, colombianos; etc.

En Colombia se atribuye su autoría textual al poeta Julio Flores, aunque también se registran otros posibles autores como Victoriano Vélez y Francisco Garras. Para la música se incluyen nombres de los compositores Luis Romero y de Adolfo Martín.

Lo cierto es que uno de los primeros registros fonográficos que se conocen de El Enterrador se realizó en Quito, Ecuador, hacia 1912-1913; lo hizo el cantante Antonio Jijón G. Existe en el Archivo Histórico del Ministerio de Cultura del Ecuador el disco de pizarra -que nosotros digitalizamos en los años 90’s- del sello Precioso Record de la Favorite Record AKT-GES. Este disco –entre otros- fue grabado con la asistencia del técnico que envío la empresa Favorite Record – por cuenta de la casa Encalada y Cía de Guayaquil- Sr. W. Winkel.

No lo hemos podido ratificar con documentos adicionales como para aseverar que se trata de una obra del cancionero ecuatoriano, tal como consta en la etiqueta de este antiguo disco (“Ecuador song”), pero sin duda se puede señalar que es el registro más antiguo que hasta el momento exista de esta obra.
